About the Pregnancy - Week By Week for 23 Weeks, 3 Days

When will you hit viability? How far along will you be by New Years? Pregnancy Week by Week creates your personalized pregnancy calendar with important milestone.

The calendar also compares the size of your baby in the woman to common hand sizes. At the start of the second trimester your baby will be roughly the expected size of his or her hand at birth. By 20 weeks, he or she will likely be the size of your hand. By birth, he or she will be nearly three times the size of your hand, crown to heel.

Information on Hand Sizes:
  • Newborn hand length averages 2.5 inches long1
  • 1 year old hand length averages 3.5 inches long2
  • 2 & 1/2 year old hand length averages 4.0 inches long2
  • 6 year old hand length averages 4.5-5.7 inches long3
  • 11 year old hand length averages 5.6-7.8 inches long3
  • Adult female (Mom) hand length averages 6.77 inches long4
  • Adult male (Dad) hand length averages 7.44 inches long4
* Note: children's hand sizes tend to have wide variance.
